Engineering for Kids Environmental Engineering  Ages 4 – 7 yrs   Are you ready to get down and dirty searching for solutions to some of our biggest environmental problems? In Junior Environmental, students ponder some truly “hot” environmental issues. Students in this class save endangered animals, help plants grow and create protection from the sun’s heat. By investigating natural process like erosion, animal adaptations, and plant growth; we discover ways that we as engineers can be inspired by the world around us to take on all sorts of challenges. Days: Wednesdays Dates: September 24 - October 22 Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Location: St. Luke’s School Room: Arts & Science Room Cost:  $ 120.00 Ages 6 – 10 yrs   A Zumba class for kids!  This Latin inspired class will introduce your kids to dance and fitness.  Sure to be a great time for kids and easy to learn.   Days:  Tuesdays Dates: September 16 - November 25 Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Location: TBA Cost: $ 50.00 Engineering for Kids Industrial Engineering Ages 7 – 11 yrs   During the Industrial Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine efficient systems for production. Students explore foundational concepts of industrial engineering such as: assembly lines, safety, stamping, sorting and distributing materials. Students see just how fun and creative industrial engineering can be as they create their own ice cream factory and 3-D copies of designs. Days: Wednesdays Dates: October 29 - November 26 Time: 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Location: St. Luke’s School   Room: Arts & Science Room Cost:  $ 150.00 Family Stargazing   Details to follow. Babysitting Course Ages 11 yrs & older   The Saskatchewan Safety Council’s Babysitter Training Course is designed to prepare young people for the important job of babysitting. Information on child care changes on a continual basis and requires new babysitters to know and understand the requirements of the job including up-to-date child care information, communicating with parents, preventing and treating injuries, and managing any other challenges that may arise. Days: Mondays Dates: October 8 - November 19 Times: 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM Location: St. Luke’s School  Room: Arts & Science Room Cost: $ 60.00 per person (manuals will be provided) Art Therapy Exploration Sessions Ages 16 yrs & older   Each of the 4 sessions will focus on a different art medium and how it can be used therapeutically.  The therapist will walk participants through what Art Therapy is, and how it can be used to reduce everyday stress, anxiety and how to use art to help to work through grief.  The therapist will also go through some easy ways you can incorporate art into your everyday.  There will be an art project to complete each week. Days: Thursdays Dates: September 18 - October 9 Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Location: St. Luke’s School Room: Arts & Science Room Cost: $ 75.00 Ages 16 yrs & older   Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students. Days: Tuesdays Dates: September 16 - November 25 Times: 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM Location: TBA Cost: $ 50.00 per person Hyde Park Shoreline Fall Cleanup   Come be a part of the 2nd Annual Fall Cleanup of the Hyde Park Naturalized Area. There will be a brief presentation on wetland functions and values for the Rosewood community conducted by a Professional Wetland Scientist prior to the cleanup. Do you already have a 2013-2014 RCA Membership?   Make sure that you renew your membership to a 2014-2015 membership as they expire annually on July 31.   Remember to keep our membership card though as your membership number will never change!   Are you interested in becoming part of the Rosewood Community Association or signing up for one of our programs?   The cost for an individual or family membership is $15 and is to be renewed annually in August (valid August 1 to July 31).   By becoming part of your community association you are helping to bring activities and events to Rosewood.    Your community association membership enables you to register for activities and events in Rosewood as well as other associations within Saskatoon while we continue to grow as a community!
